Reporting to the Director of R&D of LiquidStack, this role will be responsible for leading simulation-based design on data center cooling products to achieve R&D organization’s objectives and support cross-functional teams in product development, cost reduction, and quality improvements using simulations and modeling. The successful individual will perform all the tasks related to simulation to predict and optimize product performance. The individual will learn about a variety of new technologies which can shape the data center industry for decades to come. We are looking for a driven Simulation Engineer that is passionate about this profession and wants to be a team leader on one of the world’s global leaders in in liquid cooling solutions and services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Builds first-principle equation-based models to simulate fluid dynamics, energy balance, heat transfer, and controls in the data center cooling systems.
- Conducts component-level CFD simulations using commercial software such as ANSYS and SolidWorks.
- Creates project reports with conclusions and recommendations based on simulation results and facilitates presentations in meetings to support the projects.
- Collaborates with other engineers to collect lab data to verify simulation results and support system-level simulation models.
- Conducts lab tests such as temperature and pressure measurements as required.
- Establishes simulation standards based on best practice study and verified simulation models.
- Creates plans for simulation capability developments to align with the product development projects.
- Works with cross-functional teams to transfer product or project requirements to simulation projects.
- Acts in a manner consistent with LiquidStack’s core values and according to LiquidStack’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethical Behavior.
- Complies with standards and procedures of LiquidStack’s health and safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar with 3-5 years of experience (or PH.D degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar with 1-3 years’ experience) in first-principle equation-based solvers/software and or CFD simulations.
- Strong academic background and work experience in heat transfer and two-phase flow.
- Familiar with modeling of multi-domain dynamic systems, proficient in tools such as MacroFlow and Dymola.
- Familiar with ANSYS-Fluent, SpaceClaim, and WorkBench.
- Experience with data center cooling product design preferred.
- Strong knowledge in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Self-starter that is willing to develop advanced simulation technology to support projects.
- Attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture.
- Must have strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to prioritize competing tasks and keeping to critical deadlines.
- Multicultural approach, comfortable working with diverse cultures and mind-sets.
- Appreciation to work in a global organization with teammates in different time zones/regions.
- Excellent English communication (verbal & written).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Willingness and ability to travel globally up to 5% of the time.
- Valid passport & driver’s license with no infractions that would limit ability to travel.
